Mrs. Stauffer from El Dorado SPG MO is requesting Art Supplies through DonorsChoose, the #1 classroom funding site for teachers.

Bringing Life Science to Life

My students need slides to examine cells including the cell membrane, nucleus, and others. They will be using the index cards and colored paper to create flash cards. The remaining items will be used in various stations.

My Students

My students are hardworking and enthusiastic learners. We are located in rural Southwest Missouri, and there aren't a tremendous amount of job opportunities outside of the few left that own farms. Many students lack the resources that they need to be successful in school. They need both parental support and supplies. If I can meet the supply need, then we can work on supporting them at school so that they can see a future beyond the generational poverty that they have been a part of growing up.

In class, I differentiate activities by using microscopes, working in groups, and completing stations so that the students aren't just sitting still.

I want to bring science alive for them and ignite a passion for the STEM careers. I strive to make them dig deeper and ask more questions.

My Project

This will give the students the opportunity to reinforce their knowledge with the colored papers and index cards. Using the plastic bags, the abstract idea of osmosis will become more concrete for them.

The ameoba and paramecium slides and materials will bring biology to life for my students by allowing them to visualize the differences in cells using the slides.

The letter e slides will help them to learn how to effectively use microscopes and increase their interest. They will get real practice in class and differentiation for their learning styles.

The colored pencils will help them locate and color cell organelles, thus reinforcing the organelles in their learning.
