Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I am currently teaching in a low poverty area. My students don't always have a very good home life. Some of them don't come with school supplies or backpacks. They need something to look forward to when they wake up in the morning.

I try to be that person that they look forward to seeing each morning.

I call myself their "school momma"! They all ask to come home with me in the afternoon and that makes me feel like I'm doing something right! I love my classroom babies!!

My Project

My students would greatly benefit from tables in our classroom. We are currently using old desks that are falling apart and have been vandalized by previous students. They also don't have much space inside their desks to fit all of their books, and the top of their desk is too small. Next year, my students will be using Chromebooks to do a majority of their math lessons.

The tables will give them lots of space to manipulate the computer and their books.

They won't have to worry about their desk falling apart or not being able to fit all of their books in their desk! I know they will enjoy having more space!
