Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Reading opens up a new world to students where their imaginations illustrate the stories they read. However, reading is not always an easy task. Some of my students struggle with sounds and putting these sounds together in order to form words. Others struggle with learning a new language.
My students are a wonderful group of first graders just discovering the joys and benefits of reading.
They are eager learners, ready to take on the challenge of reading. They are inquisitive and hard working. Many of my students are second language learners. Others are native Californians. My class is made up of a diverse group of personalities and interests. My students are enthusiastic and enjoy the use of technology in our classroom.
My Project
Having the Leapfrog learning system will help motivate some of my struggling readers and second language learners to learn to read in a fun and exciting way. This system will help bring books to life and introduce my students to vocabulary and literature they may not otherwise hear or see at home. I plan on using the Leapfrog systems during center time. This will allow students to work independently on their reading while I work with other students in a small group.
The adapter and speakers will help bring learning and lessons to life. I can create lessons, for all levels of readers, and present them from the iPad to the projector and the students will actually be able to see and hear what is being presented. I can present the introductory math lessons via the Internet effectively with the proper equipment. Students love interacting with technology and watching it come to life on the screen.
I believe that technology is the future.
The more exposure students have to it, the better. I also believe that learning can be fun and that is exactly what the Leapfrogs are for my students. Your donations will help to promote reading and technology literacy.
