This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our sweet southern town is home to a small section of a rural school district with 4,400 students total. The town is committed to the education of their children and is very involved in the school community. The majority of students in our school district come from low-income households; the average income in our district is $19,000 a year. All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch daily.
My Project
During the 2020-2021 school year, I will be teaching face-to-face and virtually, simultaneously. Currently, I am working with my 4th-grade team to provide live lessons to the entire 4th-grade class. Once the COVID numbers in our community decrease, 1/2 of my students will be working from home, while the others will be learning face-to-face. My class needs a reliable laptop with a quality webcam and microphone to make this successful.
This laptop will allow me to record lessons, provide live and meaningful instruction, and engage my students.
Once we are back in the classroom, the laptop will be used to record live lessons that will be posted to Google Classroom. My face-to-face students will also use the laptop to learn more about coding with CSFirst, Google Slides, and to improve other digital skills.
