Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
All 74 kindergarten students are currently participating in grade level distance learning program. The school provides a packet and teachers deliver instruction on line. Many students do not have materials they are used to using in the classroom at home.
My Project
Our kindergarten team has brought all three classes into one online class to enable us to deliver high quality instruction to all 74 of our students. We would often rotate classes at school so all students could participate in creative, high quality standards based learning opportunities. We want these opportunities to to continue even while our kinders are learning online at home.
These materials will enable us to conduct lessons online in ways students are used to participating in, with familiar materials used in their classrooms.
This consistency will help students struggling to learn while at home. Students will be able to participate in lessons and experiments with standard materials in an inclusive online learning environment. For example, no one will be left out because they don't have bubbles or a ball when we study force and motion. All students will be able to read to or write about their monkey (our grade level mascot). And they will have have a white board and math manipulatives the teachers can make out of the card stock with a cutting machine.
