Help me give my students virtual lab software, a drawing tablet and other supplies for the opportunity to participate in science labs while distance learning.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Though they are eager learners, many of the students in my classes are from multi-generational low-income backgrounds. In addition to poverty, many face other socioeconomic challenges that impact their education, such as living in single parent households.
These challenges have thus far impacted their education, which has led to their falling behind on certain fundamental skills.
As a result, their preparation for learning is diminished. Being aware of their shortcomings, many of my students have stopped giving their full effort to receive the most out of their education.
My Project
Without access to these physical and digital resources, students will miss out on the high school science lab experience. These items will help to bring traditional classroom labs into our virtual learning environment.
With the microscope attachment, video recordings of microscope slides can be made and students will be able to use the recordings to complete labs.
The virtual labs will provide (virtual) equipment students need to complete investigations while learning from home.
This will help to reinforce the concepts students are learning as well as to help students to visualize concepts such as cells.
