My students are in a suburban high school that has a mixture of socioeconomic and racial diversity. As our boundaries have changed recently, we are going through some "growing pains" in students not always being as accepting of others as they should.
I want to help my students change the world.
Through literature (and your help), I can do that. I can show them new worlds and new ways of thinking, and I can help them reach out to others in acceptance and understanding. Thank you for your consideration.
My Project
This book, "Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption" will bring much needed diversity to our classroom and school curriculum. Too much of our current literature is based on one point of view. I would like to change that.
Everyone needs to feel accepted, and this book will help spread that acceptance.
This book teaches about diversity, poverty, race, the criminal justice system, etc: all important topics for future voters to read about and ponder.
Students may not consider all of the factors that go into an American being placed on death row, and whether or not that person can ever get off death row. This book will enlighten students on those issues.
