Help me give my students grab and play social studies game that will teach students about states, the Revolutionary War, and many more topics that we will play in small groups and help bring history to life!
I teach in a school that is very diverse with many different languages spoken at home. Students come to my classroom and want to learn new things every day. They want to be able to connect with each other through lessons that we are learning.
I want to build a community in the room where every voice is heard and students can reflect and relate to what we are learning in class to their lives.
My students enjoy helping each other and being a teacher to all, which not only supports their own learning, but the learning of others as well.
My Project
One of my responsibilities as a teacher is covering United States History up to the Civil War. I have many resources to teach those topics to the students, but there are always many who need that extra support. If I give students dates, numbers, and data, my range of students who know and comprehend the material can be varied. With the games and activities, students will engage with more hands-on learning and view the history through an additional resource that will captivate and inspire minds of all varieties. I want Social Studies to be fun and exciting because students need to know the why and how of our countries. By having the district curriculum and these games/materials, I feel they will complement each other and give students the added resources to enjoy the subject and learn more about the text.
