Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The population of learners in my classroom come from diverse backgrounds including those students who have just immigrated into this country. Many of these students come from poverty homes and in other cases, homes where they are not exposed to the use of technology. Middle school can be very challenging for students and allowing them the opportunity to use additional resources can aid them in overcoming their fears in the classroom. The integration of technology in my classroom will offer my students ample opportunities to become creative thinkers and innovative learners during the learning process.
My Project
My students need a Cricut in order to design museum projects and posters in class. By using the Cricut, they will become creative. I teach 6th grade Social Studies and I believe that learning becomes meaningful when the students are engaged and conduct hands-on activities. For that reason, in my classroom, the students create a variety of projects throughout the school year. My students would highly benefit from having a Cricut available to them in class.
Exposing my students to the use of technology in my classroom will foster a learning environment where the students are not limited in their capabilities and can extend their imagination.
I believe that this would be a great tool for them to utilize while working in group projects, designing poster boards and preparing for museum presentations. The students would have the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity and extend their ideas by designing graphics, labels, etc. Integrating activities that encourage and promote the students to become active learners is essential during the learning process. The Cricut tool would definitely be an advantage in the classroom.
