Have you ever seen a work of art that changed the way you look at the world around you? My students need access to those great works of art available on the Internet.
C School is nestled in the Northeast corner of Vermont.
Our school is a K-12 school with only 220 students, 60 of them in high school. Our town and school share a strong sense of community and pride. C school is a focal point of the town and school events are enthusiastically supported by parents and community members. Though our students and community take great pride in their Vermont traditions and culture student experiences outside of our town are very limited.
My Project
Teaching visual art classes to students as they progress from Kindergarten to high school is a unique opportunity. I am able to design a curriculum that exposes students to a sequence of skills and art history. Up until the past few years I have relied on my slide projector to introduce students to various works of art before we embarked on our studio art projects. With the ease of collecting images off of the Internet now students are able to search for works of art at their desks. Tablets allow students and teachers to reference specific works of art or images for a variety of applications. Students in my classroom may goggle images to work from while designing project ideas. Researching how artists use complementary colors might be another reason to search paintings. Numerous websites also have made art works available for students to research. My students would greatly benefit from having a Kindle Fire Tablet available to use during their class time.
My students need a tablet to reference images and art work for their projects.
Art history, artist blogs, picture searches, and art video will greatly enhance their exposure to art works.
