My students need Flat Stanley books to read. They also need journals and markers so that they can create Flat Stanley and keep a record of his adventures.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students love the Flat Stanley books. I would like to provide them with more Flat Stanley books as well as a journal and art supplies to create their own and keep a journal of their Flat Stanley activities.
My students come from a variety of different backgrounds.
My school is considered a Title 1 School and many students qualify for free/reduced lunch. Several of my students speak a second language at home including Spanish and Punjabi. I have a combo class of both 1st and 2nd graders who all enjoy learning.
My Project
We will read the books both aloud and independently. We will also use journals and art media to create Flat Stanley in the classroom. This will encourage learning about geography, especially in relation to their world, as many of them haven't been outside of our town.
This will make my students more interested in learning about geography while becoming better readers and writers.
Flat Stanley makes my students more interested in their world. It encourages them to learn more about maps and where they live. This will make them feel like they are "on the map".
