My students get so excited to learn new things! Of course, I have to get them excited, but once they become interested, their excitement allows them to enjoy and retain what they've learned.
I love getting students excited to learn through several different techniques such as hands-on learning, using technology, group activities, giving students choice.
DonorsChoose.org has really allowed me to build excitement in my classroom by allowing an array of resources into the class. There are times that just meeting the basic needs of students has really helped. Students have a hard time learning when they don't have their own materials, food, or are uncomfortable.
Getting projects funded excites the students and me to push ahead and achieve our goals.
My Project
Life-long learning is critical to being an effective teacher. I constantly strive to create a student-centered environment conducive to learning and to provide memorable lessons and experiences that entice my students to want to learn and do more. I want to up my game and spread this passion to other teachers throughout the school! By taking part in these invigorating training workshops and observing model classrooms, I will learn exciting new strategies to increase the effectiveness of my teaching by creating a culture and climate that leads to heightened student success, improves student engagement, ensures rigor, and spurs students' creative involvement to soar. On my return, I look forward to sharing what I learn with other teachers, and fanning their passion as well.
Environment and engagement are critical for student social-emotional growth and well-being that lead to achievement in math, science, social studies, reading, and writing.
I teach science to all of the fourth graders at our school. I need to learn effective teaching strategies that allow all of them to be successful. I also have a homeroom group in which social-emotional growth is part of the curriculum. I also teach reading and writing to my homeroom students.
The funding of this project will fill the financial costs associated with attending out of town conferences. Travel expenses will go towards fuel and parking fees. Lodging will be used for the hotel stay and food costs will go towards fueling my body for this exciting and energetic conference!
