Being career and college ready is the goal all my high school students are expected to reach by the end of my Computer Graphics, Design & Illustration class. Students in my class have access to iMac computers and industry standard design software allowing them to get first hand experience in project based learning.
Bridging the gap between the classroom and real world challenges in the design industry can make the learning experience more relevant and rewarding.
My students get to research and discover all aspects of the graphic design industry and build a professional portfolio that can help prepare them for higher education or an entry level design position.
My Project
The technology and supplies in this project will bring to life the real world application of the students creative designs. The Silhouette Cameo Vinyl Cutter will allow students to get hands on experience at taking their digital vector based designs from Adobe Illustrator and producing a vinyl decal that can be placed on any smooth surface.
This project will significantly help my students in understanding how their designs can be used and applied in the real world.
The flat bed heat press will be used by students to apply the heat transfer vinyl and printer paper to t-shirts and other apparel so that they can get a feel for the printing process and walk away with a design to be proud of.
Altogether this project will allow students to understand fully the design process, along with creating a brand image on shirts, decals and creative paper products.
With this project we can get funded, students will be able to see all their hard work and creative designs applied to a final product and realize the achievement of producing work from original concept through to production.
