My students may come from various economic and social backgrounds but they all have one thing in common: A desire to learn. They come into our classroom every single day ready to face the challenges that are presented to them.
I teach high school students in a Life Skills classroom.
Our classroom is made up of students in grades 9 through 12. All of the students have special needs. Some of them face learning challenges, physical challenges and emotional challenges.
My students learn best when they get to participate in hands on learning projects. The WeDo LEGO Education Learning Set will allow my students an opportunity to learn programming in a more hands on way while bringing their creations to life.
The WeDo LEGO program comes with software that will allow the students to use drag and drop features to create their projects while using thinking skills like pattern recognition and logical reasoning.
This kit gives my students a chance to work together and learn communication skills that will carry over into real life situations. Communication is often very difficult for my students because of their disabilities and any opportunity that allows them to learn and communicate at the same time is a life saver.
