My Project

As a teacher at a Title I school in an urban community, I have the privilege of working with incredibly bright and driven students who are eager to learn—but who often face systemic barriers to accessing high-quality resources. This year, I’m teaching AP African American Studies, a course that empowers students to explore the rich, complex history, culture, and contributions of African Americans—past and present.

However, we need your help to truly bring this curriculum to life.

Many of my students are the first in their families to take AP-level coursework. Your donation helps level the playing field, giving them the tools they need to thrive, excel, and proudly claim their place in the narrative of American history.

With your support, we will receive:

-Lakeshore Flex-Space 2-Shelf Binder Storage Center - to keep student binders tidy, accessible, and classroom-ready

-25 copies of Homegoing by Yaa , a powerful novel that traces generations of African and African American lives shaped by the legacy of slavery

-Six packs of Cardinal 2-inch binders (24 binders total) so each student can organize class readings, notes, and projects

-320 pre-sharpened #2 pencils and 144 blue ballpoint pens to eliminate basic supply barriers

-96 colorful highlighters to help students annotate and analyze complex texts

-25 sets of 5-tab binder dividers to keep units and themes clearly separated in their binders

These supplies may seem small, but together they create an environment where students feel prepared, confident, and equipped to succeed. In a class where we explore history often excluded from mainstream textbooks, having the tools to engage critically and stay organized is a game changer.
