Bringing Action Based Learning To My Accelerated Learners

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low socioeconomic school, I want my kids to have the same opportunities as any other student. Our district offers free breakfast for all students and the majority of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Regardless of what they leave at home, they walk through the school doors with smiles and enthusiasm to learn! I see the fire for learning in each and every student and I want to fuel that fire with fun new ways of learning.
My Project
My students learn and grasp concepts when they are allowed to move and be creative with the concept at hand.
These materials will provide multiple ways to learn by incorporating movement and fun activities into our classroom.
The legos will each have a letter written on them. My students will use these to build their sight words and spelling words. Twister will be played like normal, however, each spot will contain a sight word. The different types of letters will offer the kids multiple textiles to spell words. The sticky dots will each have a letter. During our word work station, the students will spell their spelling words using the dots. The washi tape will be used to make our sight word and spelling word hopscotch. Lastly, the paint will allow my kiddos to get creative with their words. What a fun way to learn!
