My students need materials such as: sheets, pvc piping, clothes pins, duct tape, colored pencils, pens, twine, paper bags, masking tape, for various hands-on activities and projects to bring their education to life.
I am a 4th grade teacher, and am building up my classroom to be a successful learning environment for all my students. My current class is very eager to learn as much as they can. The school at which I currently teach, is a Title I school. My students come from a diverse background, are smart, interesting and very creative students. Incorporating hands-on learning into their education makes what they are learning real and meaningful. They will participate in collaborative, hands-on activities and projects that are aligned with our 4th grade curriculum.
Bringing education to life will allow me to engage and reach all 29 of my students.
I will be able to create a fun learning environment where all my students can be successful. My students come from diverse academic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds. As a 2nd year teacher I do not have many supplies and resources to create this hands-on learning to this level. My school is a Title I school, where approximately 75% of students receive free breakfast/lunch. Donations to this project will allow my students to have positive, memorable experiences with their school curriculum, which will further help to ensure they become life-long learners.
My Project
The items listed in my project such as: sheets, pvc piping, clothes pins, duct tape, colored pencils, pens, twine, paper bags, masking tape will help ensure that all students in my classroom are able to experience the fourth grade curriculum with a hands-on approach.
This project will allow me to transform my classroom into life as it was during the Gold Rush by turning our collaborative groups into covered wagons.
They will work together to make decisions similar to those the pioneers made and keep journals to document their experiences in writing.
The art supplies will serve two purposes: Students will create an art project using these items related to the Oregon Trail/Gold Rush. They will also be used throughout the year to explore the wonderful world of Art.
