Bringing 21st Century Technology to 21st Century Learners
My students need updated technology to capture their attention and engage them in the learning process. A netbook, digital camera w/ video, & printer will greatly help!

It is time to put today's technologies into the classroom so we can prepare our students for their future tomorrow! Let's move beyond the overhead projector!
My students are on a pendulum when it comes to socioeconomic status.
With that, their access to "modern" technologies varies greatly. Many students have no digital cameras in their homes, let alone computers!
We are in a school with very little "modern" technology available to the teachers and students. The computers we have are often used for standardized testing and rarely able to be utilized for class instruction.
No technology at home and no technology at school sets my students up for a hard journey to success in this digital age.
Not only that, but my students learn differently. Pencil/paper methods don't reach all. Students who would excel at proving reading comprehension through creating digital projects are not able to do so with our current situation and often face failure with traditional methods. Opportunities to tap into their creative, naturally tech savvy ways will add another dimension to their learning. Differentiation and student success will abound!
My Project
With a netbook and the most current Microsoft software, a digital camera and recorder, my students will have opportunities to create projects in ways that capture their attention and engage them in the learning process. These opportunities will reach those students who aren't met with the traditional teaching style.
Providing opportunities for displaying knowledge and understanding through technology not only allows them to succeed in the classroom, but it is setting them up for success in their future. These resources will allow students to become familiar and proficient with methods of presenting ideas they will be expected to utilize in their future education and careers.
My students need these technologies in the classroom to foster growth in digital skills that are so vital to success in our digital world.
They need to become proficient in the use of today's technologies now so they may see success not just in middle school, but in high school, college and beyond!
Our schools should be providing opportunities for growth & success in students allowing them to become productive citizens, not simply better testers. You can help educate well-rounded students!
