My students came into my room at the beginning of the year apprehensive and not knowing what to expect- I was new and they were entering a new grade level with no idea how it was going to go. While change was scary to them then, it certainly isn’t now. My tenth graders are bright, curious, and always up for a change or challenge. We regularly move the room’s furniture to make way for new projects and the students are always coming up with new things they would like to see in the classroom. Whether it be silly English puns or serious projects they’ve worked on for months, my students are some of the most passionate people I’ve ever worked with.
My Project
Every item on this list is one that I have bought this year for my students when they have run out. Funding this project would allow me to provide all of these objects to my students without having to dip into my own pocket. I have found that having these sorts of items on hand eliminates conflict and embarrassment with students and allows me to get through my lesson without having to wait for students to borrow or go back to their lockers to get. Items like crackers are a lifesaver when my students aren't able to eat in the mornings and things like lamination sheets allow me to make class sets of hands-on activities.
