My school serves around 450 preschool-5th grade students. My school is unique in the fact that we serve deaf/hard of hearing students, students with special needs, English language learners, and low poverty inner-city students.
Our school is a safe and loving environment that is welcoming to students with diverse needs.
Some of our students travel from all over the city to come to our program because we offer speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, audiologists, counselors, and psychologists. Our school is a place where students can feel at home due to the love and support from our staff.
My Project
Preschool Outreach programs allow students the opportunity to see animals up close and personal. During these programs preschool aged students will meet 5-7 animal ambassadors from the Zoo and will learn many fun facts about these cool creatures. Our preschoolers have an entire unit on zoo animals where they learn about where they live, what they eat, how they move, and what sounds they make.
Sometimes it is costly to go to the zoo so allowing the zoo to come to the school and be up close with our preschoolers will be an experience they will never forget!
They will get to touch and see animals that they may not get to touch at the zoo!
