My students always amaze me! While we are a Title I school, I don’t equate Title One students to “low socio-economic, lower ability.” To me it means, “I will rise up and grow to be successful!” I am now a specials teacher for a new class called "Explorations". I will see all of the almost 850 students in our school 20 times each throughout the year. My class will use Arts Integration, Technology and innovative ideas to enhance the classroom instruction they receive. I believe every student can succeed and I believe in them until they believe in themselves, which they learn to do!
I truly believe that it is my responsibility to focus on what is really important in my classroom: the students.
Students today are living in a much different world than the one I grew up in. As a teacher, I must adapt right along with my kids in my classroom! How can I expect my students to problem solve and learn to advocate for themselves if I they are not given the opportunity to learn to advocate their needs for comfortable learning in a safe and loving environment?
My Project
The Merge Cube is described by it’s developer as “The hologram you hold in your hand.” It’s a foam cube with different designs on each side. When held in front of your device’s camera, while using a variety of Merge Cube apps, the cube is transformed into digital 3D objects and scenes. You can move and rotate the cube in your hand to see things from different angles. It’s a truly amazing experience!
Using the free apps available for the Merge Cube I will be able to bring far away locations to my students' hands.
These cubes also allow students to hold in their hands things such as an atom, cells and other scientific wonders! I teach almost 850 students ranging from Kindergarten to 5th grade. These cubes will allow me to differentiate for each grade level! The cart I have included will allow me to safely transport the cubes and other materials to the Autism Spectrum classes I actually go to instead of them coming to me.
