Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Have you ever read the book, "Stuck in Neutral," by Trueman? Simply, it is basically about a young man that is trapped in his body; he is brilliant, but no one knows because he can't communicate. Next year I will have a student in a similar situation. This year I had a student that was able to use new online textbook and interact with the content by listening to the text and watching video clips on my personal phone, which is limiting. I will have this student again next year and would benefit from having access to a device with a bigger screen. I would like to begin to build a 5 station laptop classroom further differentiate for all my students, but I would especially like to provide a Lenovo 330 laptop to provide further communication and learning opportunities for my students with learning challenges to brighten their world and learning experiences. I have a class budget of around 80 dollars for all classroom needs. Funding this tablet would assist with differentiation in my classroom and allow my students access to different learning opportunities.
My Project
The Lenovo 330 Laptop will assist students in accessing classroom materials that they cannot participate in via traditional methods as easily. Students who are visually and auditorily challenged will use the Lenovo 330 Laptop to personalize learning; listen to text and lecture videos, and complete interactive lessons. If they need to listen to a video more than one time, then they will be able to so. Further, to learn more about Geography they will be able to enlarge pictures or interactives to learn the material; whereas, using my personal cell phone because of the screen size wouldn't allow them to manipulate objects or maps easily. Students will access McGraw-Hill online, various online interactives, and respond/participate in online classroom discussions to access classroom content. Personal phone was used last year, but it did not accommodate students with visual challenges. Students need a bigger screen to read and manipulate objects to interactive with content.
