Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The program I teach is a reality new Pre Kindergarten program for 3 year old's, that are non- English speakers or come from generational poverty. (Free lunch)
These little guys are so precious and "sponges" for both learning English and just enjoy the fun of learning and discovering!
Many also come with other issues that no 3 year old should have to endure such as hunger over the weekends when they are not given school lunch/breakfast. Many come so hungry on Monday they scarf down their food as quickly as they can get it in their mouths.
Some come with abuse both sexual and being hit/beaten. They see things that should never be seen by a child, more less a 3 year old!!
I hope some one can show some love for these babies!
My Project
My students are disadvantaged and have not been exposed to wonderful life experiences.
As we move through our learning and discovery it is apparent many of the students have never experienced things we study, such as healthy foods which may include, a kiwi, an eggplant, or even a brown egg.
By having a color printer and of course ink, I can at least show them what these fruits and vegetables look like. As well as insects, various trees, etc.I can also make games, take their photos and print!
I will also be able to use this with future students, not just these 30.
Its the next best thing to tasting them or seeing them which is not financially possible for me to furnish for 30 students.
