My class is so very special to me! We come from a small school in a small community, which makes us more like family! I am blessed to know most of their families personally. My kids are happy to be at school and enjoy spending time together. We are not wealthy, but we work hard and play hard and our classroom is a happy and safe place that is full of love, laughter, and many super awesome adventures in learning!
I am going to make a bold attempt to use "The Daily 5" in my classroom. "The Daily 5" is a method to drive literacy instruction that fosters independence and gives students choices. We all know that children operate better and receive instruction more willingly when they have choice. One of the choices is a listening center where students listen to recorded books and hear what good reading sounds like. This center also allows them to read books they are interested in even if they aren't on their "level". The iPods will be used to store the books you will also see on my project. My teacher-friends that use it have nothing but wonderful things to say about "The Daily 5". Also, the concepts get carried over to math which makes the whole school day engaging and routine for students. I know this is a costly project, but I would appreciate any and all support to make this dream come true for my students.
