My students need opportunities to engage in extracurricular activities. I am requesting equipment so that we can field Ultimate Frisbee, Baseball, Softball, and Volleyball teams.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students from Baltimore City are a great bunch of kids who are eager to learn and make a positive impact on society. They are growing up at a rapid pace, and coming from an urban environment, are experiencing things some children should never have to endure. They work hard and deserve the very best our school system has to offer. They are the future of this world.
My students are capable of changing the world.
They are highly motivated individuals who never cease to amaze me. My students desperately need the materials necessary to understand how the many aspects of sports participation- teamwork, affiliation, accountability, leadership, self-reflection, perseverance, and goal setting can improve their chances of being successful.
My Project
Our students come from a very low-income area and are not provided with many opportunities after the school day ends. With this project, I am looking to start Ultimate Frisbee, Baseball, Softball, and Volleyball teams. This equipment will give us what we need to "roll out" these programs and offer them to the students.
With this equipment, our students will be able to engage in a crucial aspect of developing the life skills that sports can teach.
These opportunities may encourage them to attend school more frequently, provide an incentive to get better grades, and allow them time to socialize in a positive environment.
