Help me give my students the experience of seeing live theatre! The cost of the performance and transportation will be completely covered if this project is funded.
This project expired on February 21, 2019.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My second grade students are part of a dual-language program in Philadelphia. My students come from economically disadvantaged households and are eager to learn. My students are 71% latino, 18% African American, 7% White, 0.4% Asian, and 4% other multicultural groups.
I teach Literacy, Math, and Science in English to two classes of bilingual children.
The other half of the day they learn Literacy, Math, and Social Studies in Spanish. They are an extremely energetic and funny bunch, and they deserve access to the most amazing tools!
This trip will allow our students to see a live theatre show. My students are studying fables and folktales in reading and writing, and this show will allow them to identify the features of this genre and to analyze the different ways folktales are portrayed.
Theatre is an important way to learn about different genres and cultures.
My students will learn about the folktale Snow White by reading different versions before the show. After the show, they will be able to compare the version we saw with other versions we have read. This will prepare us to write our own folktales and fairytales in writing, later in the year.
