Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Starting in third grade students learn that in order to be considered successful, they must pass a "completely non-stressful" three day long test at the end each year. This test comes with great fear but equipped with the right gear we all believe we'll persevere.
Low income but determined to beat the system, my students are never shirking and very hard working.
They always manage even with English as their second language with a potential that is well above average. What I say and what I mean is "whatever it takes," more than the test their future is high stakes. These children deserve to have each individual need addressed.
My Project
Centering in on student differentiation will hasten the translation for success. Students learn best when their brains are finessed, making learning fun will get the job done and that is reason for this literacy request. Comprehension is a critical need but often lacking after students read. Vocabulary skills can be quite scary and fluency in third grade becomes very hairy. These materials in the hands-on literacy centers will hone in on these different skill sets and lets students explore the areas they can grow in. This decreases deficiencies and raises overall proficiency.
This project will affect many students who may have been academically neglected helping them see that they can reach beyond what was once expected.
Reading will take on a brand new shape and students will find excitement in a subject that once caused some sort of torment. This will help in our quest to fight the "Big Bad Scary Test" and we will certainly pass while wearing an S on our chest!
