Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We love that our students are creative, compassionate, hard workers. They bring with them their bright spirits and curious minds, eager to discover something new. Our students work together, looking out for one another, valuing both their similarities and differences. We are a Title I school which means we have a large population of students in poverty, including immigrant and migrant families, who face many obstacles.
Our students' obstacles are not barriers but the strengths they pull from.
We want to foster these strength and curiosities and continue to engage them by providing rich opportunities for learning and personal growth.
My Project
Our classroom library needs to be revitalized. My students deserve a cozy and comfortable place to relax and discover the love of reading in! Your donation will help us get lights to surround our books. We will be able to shut off the harsh classroom lights and enjoy reading in a cozy environment. My students are HIGH ENERGY and it is difficult to get them calm down enough to engage in their books. There is something about lowering the lights that brings peace to the kids. The combination of these magical lights and new mentor texts will set the mood for reading!
