My students need games like Battleship, Mancala, chess, and Trouble, plus craft items like beads, duct tape, origami paper, and looms for the many rainy days ahead of us.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
With El Nino weather coming our way this winter, we are anticipating a lot of rainy days ahead. Let's make those rainy days fun for my kids!
My fifth graders live in a working class and immigrant neighborhood.
Some of them are learning English as a second language, some have special needs, some are gifted, and all of them love to learn. Our Title I school is an important safe haven for my kids who are surrounded by poverty and gang activity.
My Project
When rainy days come, we stay indoors for recess and take out the games. Unfortunately, our games closet is tired and worn. We'd like to give our activities closet a face lift with new games and engaging craft materials. My students specifically asked for these games, plus craft materials for the kids more inclined to build things. We are asking for several games including Battleship, Mancala, Trouble, chess, Connect 4, and Sorry! We are also asking for craft items like looms with loops, designer duct tape, and beads, plus a bin in which to store them.
Because of your generous donation, my students will have some fun activities to do when the rains come.
With loads of board games and crafts, they won't feel like they're being punished by the weather. They'll say, "Bring on the rain!" My kids and I thank you!
