Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I consider myself the luckiest teacher in the world since I have the best group of students anybody could ask for. The third graders are enthusiastic, energetic, passionate, and they all have a great heart. Their love of learning is absolutely contagious!
It is almost impossible to summarize all their qualities.
They have them all! They are curious, hard workers, and, above all, they are good people who always try to do the right thing. Our motto is, "Be nice and work hard". I assure you they do both.
My Project
Thanks to your wonderful donations my students have been practicing listening skills. Their language, reading fluency and comprehension are blooming. Again, all thanks to you!
We want to practice our listening skills through percussion.
We are exploring body percussion, a very popular teaching strategy in some of the most prestigious language schools in the world, but we want more! We would love to have real instruments to practice rhythm. What a great way to get into poetry too! I never thought how useful a maraca could be until now.
These resources would improve my students' lives in many different ways: Academically, practicing rhythm would help them understand poetry's meter better. Their listening skills would be enhanced, and fine and gross motor skills would also be refined. Socially, it would give them a chance to practice teamwork in a fun, stress-free way. Having this instruments will also give students with sensory issues a chance to be tactile. Finally, practicing percussion would give everybody a chance to shine. No matter how simple the instrument is, the person playing it, would be producing a form of art.
Help us end up the year with a musical explosion of sound and color. We need it.
