All of the students are living in apartments. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 85 percent of our students receiving free lunch. Students have the option to receive free breakfast daily through a program at the school that is open to all students.
Our school has a diverse population of students from various countries who speak a variety of different languages.
Many students will come to our school for the first time and have not learned to speak English. We assist our students in providing a variety of resources such as weekend food bags for students, free eye care and exams, dental screenings, a free food pantry, and a clothing closet.
My Project
Markers, crayons and colored pencils...that's It! Yes, that's what we need. Throughout the year we use a lot of markers. We use these markers, crayons and colored pencils for time tests, center activities, writing, etc.
The students have a supply of markers also at their tables because they need to have them handy when we do activities throughout the day.
For example, the students will use the whiteboard markers to work out math word problems or do an outline before they write. With so much use, we need more markers for the new school year. It is a resource that we use multiple times each day to do our daily activities. I can't imagine going into a new school year without a supply of markers, crayons and colored pencils.
