Bring On The Instruments, I Already Have The Students
My students need instruments such as a saxophone, clarinets and flutes to start learning music by making it themselves!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I do not see students in front of me, I see future musicians and hard-working individuals who may one day perform at Carnegie Hall. Students volunteered to come to the new school that was closer to their house. The school is in a urban environment where the crime rates keep students inside at night. We are fortunate for a new building, but we are lacking supplies.
My future musicians all receive free or reduced price lunch which sets them up to be ready to learn how music helps shape their lives.
Not all my students will be contestants on the next American Idol, but I am sure a few of mine will be the judges.
My Project
Ever listen to music and wish you could play it? This is how my students are learning right now. They are listening to sounds that the instruments make, but are not able to make those sounds themselves yet. I would like the students to get hands-on experience with all the musical instruments they can.
We can't "put the band back together" if we haven't started one yet.
With instruments, my students will be able to not only express themselves through music, but they will be able to create their own groups to perform music at our different functions after school. My students know how to turn on the radio and find what type of music they like; sometimes, they know all the words. But what if the same students could play their own music? That would be much more powerful for them.
There are a variety of students and no two students learn the same, so I would like a variety of instruments to get started for students to learn on.
