My students are an amazing and diverse group of learners that come to our magnet school from across the city of Kalamazoo. They are always looking out for the next big thing: books that have become Netflix series, superhero books, and everything in between. They know when a sequel is coming out and rush to put holds on all of their favorites. Not every family has the resources to purchase books, so having a library brings equity to our student population.
Studies have shown that school libraries are vital to student success.
I want all of my students to have opportunities that propel them into amazing futures. From the best book collection to hands-on activities, I want our library to be a place where students can satisfy their personalized learning needs. Our library is a dynamic and welcoming place. Every student visits on a regular basis to check out books and use the computers. My goal is to create a library where all students are accepted and find something to engage them.
My Project
My students are voracious readers! They love having the newest books and are excited when we have additional copies of their favorite titles. The library budget for this year is exhausted, but our wish list keeps growing.
Help bring new books into the hands of our middle school readers!
Your generous donation will provide diverse books that were just released this spring, as well as copies of some favorites that need to be replaced due to use or loss. With almost 900 kids sharing the resources, our library is in constant need of fresh books to keep students reading and achieving.
