My students need Nate the Great books to keep them motivated as readers. They are in love with this series and would love to begin the year with these new fun books.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work at a large Title I school, where 80% of the students live below the poverty line. The student population is very diverse. I work with fourth grade students with special needs. They are very eager and enthusiastic learners. Many of them have little to no literature at home and look forward to coming to school to browse through the school library or my classroom library. Seeing these kids grow as readers is one of the most rewarding things in life.
My Project
My students are becoming better readers by the day. Working with students with special needs has brought on its own challenges, especially when it comes to independent reading time and reading for pleasure.
When I see the kids grab books as soon as they have a free moment during the day, it just warms my heart.
Especially when I see them lay next to each other and encourage each other to become better readers.
I feel that the Nate the Great series would be an amazing addition to my classroom library. It will also be wonderful to end the school year sharing new books.
