My students need 4 Botley Coding Robots and Action Challenge Accessory Packs so that they can become computational thinkers that can make a difference in our modern world.
Have you ever wondered why so many of our students have a hard time finding a job after high school or even college? There is a new active campaign to give students opportunities to learn computer science in all grades. My students love to build and play, and they are eager to learn something new.
In Montgomery County, our schools’ mission is to “Engage, Encourage and Empower.” We also strive to get our students not only to graduate with the necessary skills to graduate and go to college, but most of all make a difference in our community and greater world.
Teaching computer science lessons to our youth will give our students a better chance at getting a job and in most cases a higher paying job.
All students need computer science lessons in order to be thinkers, creators, and most of all, computational thinkers that will in turn take them to new places. My students are motivated, eager, collaborative thinkers that want to take risks. I admit that I was a bit weary of teaching computer science to 4th graders, but they have met the challenge and gone far beyond my expectations. Now, my students are teaching me!
My Project
Starting this school year, our students and teachers will dive into the world of programming with a new K-5 computer science curriculum. It's my duty to give my students everything they need in order to be a successful programmer. Botley is the first coding robot that comes screen free and STEM approved. This little bot will get students engaged and exciting about coding with it's easy programming language.
With your help, my students will have the essential life skills to think critically and problem solve which in turn will help them achieve great things.
Students will be able to spend each morning connecting with their peers using the common language of coding. Some of my students have a great need and desire to grasp coding but are struggling because we don't have enough robots so that they can have ample amount of time to spend learning the various codes and robots. With Botley Bots programming language is easy to understand and will give my students yet another programming opportunity.
I've only seen my students grow their computational thinking, socialization, and my students are thinkers and creators and need these Botley Bots in order to obtain the computer science skills and knowledge that will stay with them as they compete and contribute in our tech savvy world.
