Third grade is a huge hurdle for elementary students. My classroom is a place of challenge and celebration. Throughout the year, my third graders make the amazing transformation from learning to read to reading to learn. Every year, they impress me with all the reading and writing skills they gain. There are sure to be bumps and wrong turns, but these mistakes help us to grow and learn.
We have a wide variety of abilities, personalities, ethnicities, and economic backgrounds, but these qualities make our classroom community an amazing place to learn and play.
My students, this year, are full of energy and excitement for learning and are ready to tackle third grade!
My Project
Reading is a vital skill that many students find boring. I am on a mission to change students' thinking when it comes to reading. The books in this project have been hand-selected to provide maximum fun during reading class and leave them begging for more reading time.
Readers are leaders!
Students who read more know more words, have a wider vocabulary, can follow complex plot twists, have greater stamina and focus, and perform better in the classroom than those who do not. It only makes sense to make reading a priority.
I want students to enjoy reading because they have access to books that they can connect with. Books are NOT boring and I'm going to prove it to all my kiddos who think otherwise.
