Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are funny, loving and come to school eager to learn! My students are motivated, and excited about learning. My classroom consists of a wide range of learners. I have the Co-teach classroom, where all 4th grade ESL and Special Education students are in my classroom. Even though my students struggle and many are multiple grade levels behind in reading. They love read alouds. This is my way to get them excited about learning. My students love learning new things through reading. I can travel back in time and make reading come alive through both fiction and nonfiction books.
As an educator, it is not only my job to teach my students to read and write, but also to teach them how to have empathy and compassion for others.
My students learn the importance of standing up for what is right and learn to value and respect each other's differences.
My Project
I want to help my student develop a love for reading! I developed my love for reading after I read my first Harry Potter book! I want my students to develop that same LOVE for reading!
I think it would be so AWESOME to create a Harry Potter themed reading challenge.
The sorting hat we ordered will "sort" my students into houses. We will place the banners on the wall and each student will be placed in different houses trying to accumulate points as we read books! Students will keep track of their reading and the house with the most points every nine weeks, will get a special prize! Students will encourage each other along the way and know what it means like to be on a team!
