Welcome to Mrs. W's high school classroom! This is the room where 10th and 12th grade students are traveling across genres, time periods, and multi-cultural authors throughout the course of the school year. Our district is as diverse as one can imagine. Students come from all walks of life, spanning the entire spectrum of socioeconomic status.
In order to better reach each student, and to create a learning environment that is inclusive to all, listening stations were funded as part of a previous Donors Choose project!
Now we are striving to increase access to literature by acquiring MP3 players that will allow students to access the previously funded audio versions of all curriculum texts, as well as those texts offered to seniors in our Popular Literature class, to be used with the previously funded listening stations!
Students arrive to school each day experiencing all levels of hardship, struggle, and discord, before even stepping into the learning environment. With this diverse population, one can imagine the supply needs that each classroom demands. If we can create lifelong readers who will continue to read during their higher education endeavors, let's do it! Please consider supporting this important cause!
My Project
The request materials will bring the previously funded listening stations to life within my classroom! In my mixed urban and suburban classroom environment, students are often not given the literature experience that they deserve and desire. By bring listening stations to life in the secondary setting, students will be encouraged to continue their progress on becoming lifelong readers and writers.
Students are never too old to be read too!
Listening stations allow students the interactive literature experience that they often do not have access to at home. By helping to supply my students with these materials, you are doing your part in building readers for life!
