Help me give my students a planter stand and plants to bring life to our life science classroom in the fall! We start the year by investigating and exploring photosynthesis.
Our public school serves a diverse body of students from all over the greater Boston area. A part of our mission is to matriculate students who become leaders of sustainability in their communities and who are scientifically literate. A full 82% of our students fall at or below the poverty line, and each one of our students should have equal access to scientific experiences that will allow them to be agents of change in their communities. It is my goal and responsibility to introduce students to 21st century skills and help them develop these skills throughout the school year.
My Project
Help my students by supporting us in purchasing a planter stand and plants to bring life to our life science classroom in the fall! We start the year by investigating and exploring photosynthesis- and what better way to investigate than to have plants in our classroom. With a variety of plant life, students can investigate soil pH to learn more about acids & bases, they can conceptualize the process of photosynthesis & cellular respiration, they will have an area to grow spinach to investigate a phenomena of fluorescence, and they can use the leaves from the variety of plants to investigate pigments through chromatography.
Hands-on learning is a vital way to truly understand and conceptualize a topic- having living organisms in our classroom can help us to deepen our learning experience!
