Bring Learning to Life! Engaging Students Through Realistic Dramatic Play
Help me give my students new props for our dramatic play center to help bring the real world into their pretend play in a variety of different scenarios.
In our Spanish immersion classroom, my transitional kindergarten students have their first school experience while challenging themselves with a new language. It is wonderful to watch their persistence with the challenge of a new language and their pride as they gain Spanish skills!
Play is the way in TK!
At our transitional kindergarten only campus, students learn and grow through play-based learning. Students learn and practice inquiry, collaboration, and social skills while developing a love for learning! They learn how to be school-ready through a focus on social-emotional learning alongside their academic growth.
My Project
For my TK students, all of whom are 4 years old on the first day of school, play takes on an essential role in their learning. Through play, they learn social skills, problem solving, emotional intelligence, and critical thinking. Play also helps them push themselves to learn more challenging material by making them more engaged and excited about their learning.
With the help of these new dramatic play materials, my students will be more engaged, excited, and imaginative in collaborative pretend play.
The materials in this project help create a variety of different dramatic play centers to rotate throughout the year. This will provide students with an opportunity to use their imagination, social skills, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence.
