My students need these supplies to complete our classroom- better lighting (boo florescent lights), covers for our work surfaces, and charging stations for their phones to keep them focused on learning and not on their screens.
Tell us what you love about your students. What makes them special? I love being able to teach in a computer lab and a 1:1 environment, even though we are not a 1:1 school. The opportunity to integrate technology into the classroom experience is a game changer.
My students are curious, resourceful, inquisitive and eager to learn.
The lab is such a fun learning environment. We cover important and necessary subjects such as digital citizenship, keyboarding, general computing knowledge and computer applications.
My Project
I realize that my list of supplies might at first seem like nothing more than decor- but they are not! Let me explain.
First, the lights!
Unlike regular classrooms in our building, we only have one set of florescent lights in the lab. This means the lights must all be on (super bright and harsh) or all be off (super dark). Having alternate lighting would greatly improve our learning environment.
We have 2 work surfaces that constantly need cleaning and would benefit from an easy clean surface, hence the need for contact paper.
And lastly, the charging stations. We aren't allowed to take students cell phones away, and it's a constant battle to keep them off their phones and focused or keep them from trying to use the computer workstations to charge their phones. Having charging stations would greatly benefit classroom management in the lab- it would keep them off their phones and encourage them to get to class on time (to ensure their phone had a spot in the charging dock!).
