In response to the pandemic, my school district provided each middle and high school student with a computer, and the district has collaborated with the public library to provide internet access.
The school district is unable to provide computers to our elementary students.
About half of my students are participating in e-learning activities. The school district is sending learning packets to all elementary students, so those students without technology are still able to do some learning.
My Project
The last few months have been very difficult for my students and I, as it has been for students and teachers around the world. Each day that we are away from school, I think of my students and how this pandemic has affected them. I know that they are sad that we will not be returning to school this year.
I'd like to gift my students with a book so they can continue reading while we are away from school.
At the beginning of the school year, I read Sideways Stories from Wayside School by Louis Sachar aloud to my students. This book brought so much joy to my students, and it engaged even the most reluctant readers. I know that they would enjoy the sequel, Wayside School is Falling Down, just as much.
I know it will make my students smile to receive this book. It makes me smile to think about how these gifts will brighten my students' days.
