John Lubbock said, "Earth and sky, woods and fields, lakes and rivers, the mountain and the sea, are excellent schoolmasters, and teach some of us more than we can ever learn from books."
I teach 30 third grade students math and science.
Both of my classes are inclusion classes. Several of my students have disabilities. Our school is located in the southern part of the United States.
My students this year have more curiosity and excitement about learning science concepts than any students that I have had in the past. I want to capture that excitement and use it to foster in them a love for science that will grow as they continue in their education.
My Project
I want to transform my classroom into a frog learning center. My students will experience frogs developing from eggs, to tadpoles, and finally to adult frogs. Throughout this learning opportunity they will explore the lives of a variety of different frog species.
This unit will be the beginning of a series of activities that will introduce them to life cycles of other organisms. With this project, I am also requesting a subscription to a series of videos that will further help to bring the world around my students to life.
Donations to this project will enable my students to experience science concepts in a hands-on way.
In contributing to this project, you will be nurturing a love for science in thirty young boys and girls. Who knows, you could be the person that provides the substrate for the next great scientist of our time.
