Many students are experiencing poverty and related issues, yet they are engaged, curious, and excited about learning. They are a diverse group, representing many different cultures and languages. They love to read and are deserving of books that will feed their imaginations.
Students at our elementary school are proud that Theodor Geisel (Dr. Seuss) was once a kid growing up in the city of Springfield just like they are .
His books are always popular, and our current library copies are well-worn.
Teachers frequently use them in their classrooms and recommend them to their students. In early March, when we celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday, it's hard to keep up with the demand.
This collection would help upgrade the Dr. Seuss books in our library, and would be used by the 800 students and teachers at our school for many years into the future.
