My students need a color printer for printing out task cards and other educational resources. A visual representation of the natural world should be in color!
My class is a mixture of typical students and ESE students in one learning environment. I have many students who may be best described as fidgety. Many of them have learning disabilities that make achieving their potential in education much more difficult. My students have a need for physical or sensory stimulation in order to best achieve their academic potential.
Each student is different and learns best in a learning environment unique to them.
As a reverse magnet, many of my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Many ride the bus for over an hour just to be a part of our school. With a Pre I.B. program, we strive to give our students hands-on, project-based learning to prepare them for life.
My Project
Much of what my students learn is out of this world! We cover topics like space exploration, the human body, and various other areas of science. Due to the nature of the content, much of what we study, we use models and other visual representations to learn the material. To view our natural world in color just makes sense!
Sadly, much of the creation of our model of the natural world is done in black and white, yet the world we live in is in color!
It makes it very difficult for students to view intricate details or compare and contrast models when they cannot see a color variation. A color printer will help alleviate much of this.
My students enjoy learning in a self-paced environment. Being able to move forward without waiting for whole class presentation would be a great asset to my eager learners.
