Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is located in the historic East End of Houston where the culture is rich and the roots run deep. We have students from many different backgrounds that hail from all over the surrounding areas to attend our STEM program with a biotech/neuroscience focus. The future of medicine is quite literally in my classroom.
Our students are creative, active, and excited to learn new things.
As a campus, we strive to create a school where students with many different interests can flourish and excel. By starting a Color Guard at our school, students will have a creative outlet and a safe place after school.
My Project
I was part of the Color Guard and Marching Band all throughout high school and for two years in college. I have the best memories from being in Guard! I want to give the same experience to my students.
Team sports and activities are an important part of the middle school experience.
Starting a Color Guard at my school is something I've wanted to do since I began teaching here. I want to give students the opportunity to learn something new and give them a creative outlet. Color Guard will help students learn how to cooperate and be part of a team as well as allow them to express themselves.
