Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are eager and excited to learn! Our class is a Spanish and English Dual Language class, 50% of my students are English Language Learners. Most of my English Language Learners come from low income families that do not own any technology at home, nor are the barely read to at home. My students are inquisitive, imaginative and naturally playful. Having a listening center in our classroom will allow them to hear their favorite books over and over again.
My Project
Having a listening center in our classroom would open up a whole new experience for the whole class, their favorite stories would come to life. Students will have the advantage of listening to stories independently. It will give them a chance to words and read along without interruptions. They will listen to interesting sound effects, music, and multiple narrators that make it motivating and fun for young children. As students listen to their audio books they will be able to listen to their stories and use their own imagination to picture what is going on in the stories. This will allow them to be actively engaged in, and it will give me the opportunity to create personalized activities to fit my students needs, as they learn Spanish and English.
