Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 2nd grade class is located in inner city Richmond, California, and all receive free lunch. Every year the majority of the students start the school year substantially below grade level in reading, writing, math, and science concepts. In my goal to close this achievement gap, I use technology to create new and exciting leveled and individualized learning activities to increase motivation to learn in reading, writing, and math.
This project is to have a second Apple computer in the classroom so more students can learn to use the Apple format.
We have pc tablets for every student in the class, but only one Apple notebook. Having a second Apple computer in the class will allow students the chance to use and get used to an Apple computer twice as fast, instead of having the whole class take turns using the one Apple computer.
My Project
Our class is highly tech knowledgable in that I've made most of the materials we use our class available online. This allows us to make progress in closing the achievement gap because we are able to individualize and level learning materials instantaneously during reading and math learning activities.
I would like to get an Apple computer so students can learn to use the Apple platform now, and in their future.
This way my students will feel confident using computers no matter what brand it is, and where their tech future takes them.
This desktop computer will allow me to add a larger screen to it, so that 3 or 4 students can sit around it at the same time and still see the screen. This lets us teach several students at a time how to use an Apple computer.
