Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Kindergarten has changed over the last ten years. We do so much direct instruction (teaching and working together on the carpet) that we have completely worn out the carpet! Burbank School has a 90% free lunch population, and 80% of our students are learning English as well. Our parent club raises money to pay for family events and rarely has any money to help classroom teachers. Because of the high poverty at our school, classroom fundraisers like wrapping paper or candy sales just don't work. My students need a new carpet that will create a happy, colorful, yet focused, area for my students to learn. I want them to have their own spaces on the carpet which is why I have chosen this specific carpet.
