My students are inquisitive, fun, enthusiastic learners. Many come from low income families in a rural setting. Like many students, they tend to be more digitally native and need more exposure to literature and written expression. They love learning and soak up lessons like little sponges. For example, we recently had a lesson on variations of Little Red Riding Hood. As I read one ending, a student stood up outraged and said, “That is NOT how it’s supposed to happen!”.
My Project
My students need a Book Storage 4 Pocket Big Book Mobile to access big books in order to ensure they have an environment rich in literature exposure. Big books are an essential element in a first grade classsroom, but how in the world do you store them to ensure they are accessible and last a long time? Having a big book box would allow me to display our beautiful big books where students can easily access them during lessons as well as independently. Currently, precious shelf space is used to inefficiently store these books. Each time a book is needed, I must sift through them all (and they get heavy!) until I locate just the right one for our lesson. As a result, our brilliant big books are underutilized, a problem that’s is easily solved with your help!
